Biography

I am an advocate for insurance consumers. I founded Colorado Insurance Law Center to dedicate my twenty-five years of unique insurance experience to benefit commercial and individual policyholders.

Why I'm Different from Other Insurance Lawyers

I’m an experienced insurance lawyer different from other insurance lawyers. I worked for over a decade in the insurance industry before law school and have been an insurance industry “insider.”

I regularly work with small to mid-sized businesses to prevent and resolve complex insurance disputes as expeditiously and advantageously as possible.

I have also served as personal counsel for individuals and co-counsel for trial lawyers involved in litigation where insurance claims are an underlying issue.

Why I Practice Law

I realized that the only way to way to help policyholders whose claims were unreasonably denied or whose brokers committed errors and wouldn’t fix them was through legal action, so I went to law school. I received a public service Chancellor’s Scholarship because I promised to serve insurance consumers when I graduated – a promise I keep every day.

After law school, I practiced at Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP, one of Colorado’s oldest and most respected law firms, ultimately advancing to partner and serving as the firm’s resident insurance expert. At DGS, I was mentored by some of the best attorneys in the Rocky Mountain West and represented policyholders of all sizes. After that, I practiced at Levin Sitcoff PC, an insurance coverage litigation firm.

About Me

I am a Colorado native from a blue-collar family. My parents struggled out of poverty to reach the working class and taught my siblings and me the value of hard work. I worked three jobs and applied for every scholarship I could to put myself through college. I worked full-time while I went to law school.

I care about my community, and have served as a board member for several nonprofit organizations whose missions focus on providing educational opportunities. Currently, I’m on the board of directors of the Denver Urban Debate League, whose mission is to improve educational and life outcomes for disadvantaged students by providing opportunities to learn and achieve through competitive debate.

In my spare time, I enjoy the outdoors with my family, reading historical accounts of perseverance through adversity, and watching movies. I’m also a big-time hockey fan (Go Avs!).
